I’ve heard I need a new router with a better firewall. Why all the fuss? I already have a firewall from Comcast!
Comcast as well as any other major carriers includes in their service a firewall but because they offer the same firewall to everyone, they aren’t able to offer any better than a vanilla flavored firewall that will only (protect them on their side of the service?) stop some viruses. There are plenty of options on the market for virus and hacking protection ranging from $50.00 to $15,000.00. How valuable is the information on your network? Do you transmit money or financial concerns via email? Do you participate in E-Commerce? Do you store private information like Addresses, Birthdates, Social Security numbers or email addresses on your network? DOS (Denial of Service) is another major concern for some businesses.
Some hackers, after infiltrating your network will install a bug on your computer that will totally disable the use of your computer unless you were to pay them an amount of money that they determine. This form of digital hacking is usually payable only in Bitcoin.
